  5. Romney is not a sure in to win the Republican party, there is a reason why he still haven’t announce who his running mate is going to be. Keep an eye on Ron Paul, he is being boycotted by the mainstream media, but even those that are boycotting him are beginning to come around and giving him the recognition he deserves.

  6. David:

With all due respect, Romney is a going to win the Republican Party nomination. Romney’s biggest obstacle is the conservative / evangelical faction of GOP. Now that both Santorum (evangelical / social conservative) and Gingrich (traditional southern conservative) have suspended their campaigns, he will win the nomination. Ron Paul’s libertarian faction constitute no more than 5-10% of the party, even though it is a loyal and vocal 5-10%. Ron Paul knows it. The main reason he has not dropped out is to try to get a bigger voice at the convention for the libertarian cause, and perhaps set the stage for his son Rand Paul who is more identified with the Tea Pay movement than the libertarian cause.

    Charles:

The fact that US mainstream media such as NY Times and TIME magazine does not truly represent mainstream America still does not resonate among people in Hong Kong. They will think you are joking.

  7. Alvin, that’s what a lot of people are thinking, and that’s why nobody is giving Ron Paul a chance, but, if you look closely at really what’s going on, Romney is not in a very secure position.

If Romney is really winning or won already, his supporters would not need to do this right?

If Ron Paul really has no chance, then it really hard to explain the following:

    http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/2012/0505/Should-Mitt-Romney-worry-about-Ron-Paul

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/ron-pauls-stealth-state-convention-takeover/2012/05/02/gIQAjJVPwT_blog.html

Mitt Romney might seem to have “Won” the required delegates, but majority of those delegates are not required to support him, at the upcoming Republican convention, they can still cast their support to Ron Paul, and more and more it seems, that’s going to happen.

  8. Alvin

Mitt Romney looks presidential. Ron Paul’s libertarian stand is powerful in withholding the Constitution and in ripping the Left on economy, finance and budget. I think Mitt and Ron are in good terms. If Ron is named the Secretary of Treasury next year, I’ll be all-in on stocks.

The fact as you’ve said about Hong Kong people’s knowledge of America (or lack of it) is tragically true; it itself is a result of brain-washing by the media. They blame America when Obama Administration is to blame; they blamed Bush when America wronged others by its Leftists. As a ready example, I have yet to find any Chinese press in support of Chen Guangsheng to headline that Romney called “The day of shame for Obama” last week.

  9. Charles, both Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are actually good friends in real life, that’s why we are not seeing any mud slinging or name calling between these two.

  11. David, the only common ground between Ron Paul’s libertarian values and conservative values is the vision of a limited, constitutional government. Ron Paul may appeal to a younger, more independent generation (as opposed to the younger, self-entitled “gimme” generation) as well as fringe elements of the liberal left, his stances on social and national security issues are driving conservatives / evangelicals and the GOP establishments, in other words the sizable majority of the Republican party, away. It is very hard to see Ron Paul winning over a majority of the unpledged delegates in the convention to steal the nomination.

How misaligned is the Ron Paul electorate with the GOP? A recent poll showed that had Paul entered the general election as an independent, he will actually be stealing votes away from Obama, not Romney.

Ron Paul is not in the race the win the nomination. He is, on the other hand, trying to secure a prominent speaking role at the convention. More strategically, the Paul camp want a platform for their message of limited government to reshape the Republican Party and to broaden the base, perhaps even paving the road for Rand Paul.
