If the witnesses on the bus are to be believed, a contributory cause of the accident may have been the hostility shown by some passengers towards the driver because he set off from Shatin Racecourse 10’ late. This seems to have enraged the driver to the extremes of his tolerance with such unfortunate consequences. Whatever the provocation, the bus driver should have maintained his cool or, have refused to depart until assistance had been forthcoming. The hostile passenger too, must be held to account.
The fact that this caution was not observed, is due to the psychological state of mind of the driver at the time. Let’s not forget the Germanwings disaster over the Alps. Do you think Lufthansa was any more capable of anticipating that disaster than the KMB managers were of anticipating Tai Po Rd ?
